1467

We decided to call our project 1476 for many reasons. These reasons take on new meaning as time passes. What is important to us is that it is vague and ambiguous. It has no definitive meaning and that allows us to dream and turn our dreams into reality. We hope it allows our listeners to do the same thing. 1476 is in the remote past. For me, it has an historical and European mood to it. It represents an ideal and aesthetic that we are always chasing but can never seem to capture entirely. There is a very specific reason that we chose that year but it is a personal reference that wouldn’t have much meaning to anyone outside of the band. I cannot speak for Germany but in the United States where we live, we are constantly assaulted with advertisements for what we should be eating and drinking, what music we should be buying, how we should vote, how we should live, who we should worship, etc. It’s exhausting and, at times, offensive. For me, 1476 is a safe haven from that. We will never tell you what your politics should be or what god you should worship. We will not judge you for your beliefs. We would like our music to be a much deserved break for people who are sick of being force fed ways to live. We encourage individuality, freedom, dignity, integrity, self-empowerment, and the drive to better yourself in a positive way.

+1476+ is the New England-based project of Neil DeRosa and Robb Kavjian. Self-described as Hermetic Deth Rock, they released their first full-length album A Wolf’s Age in early 2010, an ambitious and heavy indie rock release with hints of death rock, post punk, and shoegaze. The subject matter courses through occult and mythological themes as well as loves and lives lost.

In November of 2010, they released the experimental acoustic EP Smoke In The Sky. Self-released on their own imprint, The Seraphim House, and limited to 400 hundred hand-numbered copies, Smoke In The Sky launched a series of tribal/acoustic performances in the USA that have been described as ‘heavy, captivating, and explosive…’

Smoke In The Sky deals with Hermetica and Chaos Magick principles using beautiful metaphors and vivid imagery. 1476 is passionately DIY and their sound is evolving fast.
